How to Identify:
The first thing many people notice about this picture is the large crossed bill. This limits you to two species, Red and White-winged Crossbill. Since there is some red on this individual, we know that it is a 1st year male but this does not help us identify it by species. We can definatively call this a Red Crossbill based on the lack of white in the wings and the very large bill.
