Weekly Bird Identification Quiz

June 8 - June 14, 2009

Bird Quiz #12

How to Identify:
Because of the angle we are seeing this bird at, it could prove to be a tough bird to identify.  After noticing a few identification points it becomes much easier.  On first glance we can tell that this is a raptor and a large raptor at that.  The combination of an overall dark appearance, white stripe on the tail, large bill, mottled brown on the wings, and the primaries being spread wide all make this a Golden Eagle.
