How to Identify:
This is easily recognized as a songbird by its size in comparison to the grass. The overall gray-brown look suggests it is in the sparrow family. The combination of gray head and tail and brown streaked back eliminates many possibilities. The white outer tail feathers are the key feature in identifying this as a Dark-eyed Junco. To be more specific this is the Pink-sided subspecies.
