Weekly Bird Identification Quiz
July 13 - July 19, 2009
How to Identify:
When first looking at this photograph, it should be immediately evident that this is a gull species. The slight black coloration in the head should lead you to the two medium sized hooded gulls, Franklin’s and Laughing. The large bill and lighter coloration of black on the read point to this being a Laughing Gull. The lack of a full black hood and no white in the primaries point to this individual being a second-cycle nonbreeding Laughing Gull.
