Weekly Bird Identification Quiz
November 23 - November 29, 2009
How to Identify:
The bird in this photo quiz can quickly be identified as a species of Gull or Tern. Due to the rather rounded wings and very short tail the terns can be eliminated. The most important field mark to notice on this bird is the entirely dark underwings. Also note the white tips to all the primaries and secondaries creating a white trailing edge to the wing. No adult gull other than Little Gull will show features that even resemble these.
