Weekly Bird Identification Quiz
November 30 - December 13, 2009
How to Identify:
This quiz bird is easily recognizable as a bird of prey. From the small size all of the large species can be eliminated. The only species that can be considered at this point is Merlin, American Kestrel, and Sharp-shinned Hawk. The heavily streaked chest and a weak mustache eliminate both American Kestrel and Sharp-shinned Hawk. Sharp-shinned Hawks would not show the weak mustache and American Kestrels would not have a heavily streaked chest.
