Weekly Bird Identification Quiz
July 12 - July 18, 2010
How to Identify:
It can sometimes be difficult to decide where to start when you are trying to identify such a drab bird. One good place to start is with this individual’s distinct wing bars and eye ring. This combination of features along with the bird’s body shape point to one of the Empinonax Flycatchers. The bold wing bars suggest that it is a Willow, Alder, or Least Flycatcher and the bold eye ring confirms that this is a Least Flycatcher.
