How to Identify:
To most birders, this is immediately recognized as a hawk and more specifically as an Accipiter.  A Goshawk can be quickly eliminated as it would never show the characteristic shown in this picture.  The two remaining options are Cooper’s and Sharp-shinned Hawks.  The capped appearance and rounded tail point to Cooper’s Hawk.
