Cool Creek Park

Cool Creek Park is located in Westfield, Indiana. This park is one of the top warbler migration spots in all of Hamilton County. It also serves as an important educational site for local school children. The park suffers ecologically from an invasion of a non-native plant, Bush Honeysuckle. Efforts are underway to rid the park of this invasive species.

Yellow-throated Vireo: This species can be found by hiking the trails throughout the park during the spring and summer.
Summer Tanager: This species can be found by hiking the trails throughout the park during the spring and summer.
Warblers: Many species of warblers can be found throughout this park during spring and fall migration.

Park Trails: The park trails provide a chance to see many species of birds. During the spring and fall, many warblers, vireos, thrushes, and other migrants move through the park. In the summer, numerous birds breed along the trails including Wood Thrush, Yellow-throated Vireo, and Northern Parula. In the winter, many Golden-crowned Kinglets and Brown Creepers can be found along the trails.
Picnic Area Parking Lot: The Picnic Area Parking Lot is an amazing place to bird during migration. By walking to either of the bridges near the parking area, you will have a good chance of finding many migrant passerines.Hours:

Much of the park is accessible. Areas such as the Picnic Area can be birded from the parking lot. There are some rugged trails that are not handicap accessible.
