Coxhall Gardens is a small park located on the west side of Carmel, IN.

Specialty Species:

Spotted Sandpiper: Spotted Sandpipers breed around the main pond.

Swallows: During the summer many swallows can be found feeding over the lake.

Where to Bird:

Marsh Trail:  This trail makes a loop around a cattail marsh.  During the spring, there can be numerous sparrows in this area.  During the summer, many good birds have bred in the marsh including Least Bittern and Marsh Wren.  When there is a dry year, shorebirds use this area as well.

Lake Trail:  This trail makes a loop around a small lake.  During the spring or fall you can see diving ducks in this area.  During the summer, watch for many swallows and breeding Spotted Sandpipers.

The whole property is wheelchair accessible, except for the Marsh Trail.

From the East: From Meridian Street/US-31, go west on 116th Street.  Turn right (north) on Towne Road.  Take the next right (east) into Coxhall Gardens.

From the West: From Michigan Road /US-421, go east on 116th Street.  Turn left (north) on Towne Road.  Take the next right (east) into Coxhall Gardens.
