This 605 acre park includes a 270 acre State Nature Preserve.  The park has the largest contiguous forest in Allen County and also contains a glacial sand dune.

Specialty Species:

Migrant Passerines:  This park can be great for migrant passerines during spring and fall migration.

Common Redpoll:  The feeders at the nature center normally draw this species to the park every winter.

Where to Bird:

Trail West for Posts A and B:  Hike this area in the spring and fall looking for migrant passerines.  Warblers, Vireos, and many other species are common in this area.

Nature Center Parking Lot:  Walk around the parking lot looking for migrant passerines.  The feeding station is also a good place to look for Common Redpolls.

1st Sunday in November (DST ends) - second Saturday in March  9am - 6pm

2nd Saturday in March (DST begins) - Memorial Day  9am - 7pm

Memorial Day thru Labor Day  9am - 9pm

Labor Day thru first Saturday of November  9am - 7pm

Accessiblity:

Trails are not accessible but the Nature Center and the Nature Center parking lot both are.

Trails:

Seven miles of trails throughout the park.  In the winter, when there is snow covering the ground, most trails are closed for cross country skiing.

Directions:

From the North:  Take I-69 South through Fort Wayne to Exit 102 for US-24 W/W Jefferson Boulevard.  Turn right (west) onto W Jefferson Boulevard.  Go 0.4 miles and turn left (east) onto Liberty Mills Road.  After 0.2 miles turn right (south) onto Ellison Road.  This will become Yohne Road.  The entrance to the park is located on the left (north) side of the road.

From the South:  Take I-69 North towards Fort Wayne.  Take Exit 99 for Lower Huntington Road and turn right (east).  After 0.3 miles, turn left (north) to stay on Lower Huntington Road.  Go 0.8 miles and turn left (north) onto Branstrator Road.  After 1.1 miles turn right (east) onto Yohne Road.  The entrance is on the left (north) after 0.7 miles.
