This is a small wetland area located in Lake County in northwest Indiana.

Specialty Species:

Dabbling Ducks:  When flooded, this is a good area to find dabbling ducks.

Rails:  This site is a good spot to listen for rails in the early morning.

Where to Bird:

Marsh Trail:  Hike the trail around the marsh.  Note that this trail is not well kept up and may be difficult to hike.

Directions:

From the West:  Take I-80/94 east to exit 9 for Grant Street and turn left (south) onto Grant Street.  Turn right (west) onto W. 35th Avenue.  This will end at a T-intersection.  At this intersection, turn right (north) onto Chase Street.  There is a small gravel pull-off just after you make the turn.  Park here and walk across the street into Chase Street Wetlands.

From the East:  Take I-80/94 west to exit 9 for Grant Street and turn left (south) onto Grant Street.  Turn right (west) onto W. 35th Avenue.  This will end at a T-intersection.  At this intersection, turn right (north) onto Chase Street.  There is a small gravel pull-off just after you make the turn.  Park here and walk across the street into Chase Street Wetlands.
