This small wetland is located in Lake County in northwest Indiana.

Specialty Species:

Waterfowl:  If the area is flooded, scan the marsh for many species of waterfowl.  This area is usually good for many species of dabbling ducks but can have diving ducks as well.

Sparrows:  Look in the marsh and shrubby areas for various sparrows from the fall through the spring.  In the spring and fall, Nelson’s Sharp-tailed and LeConte’s Sparrows can be seen in the area.

Where to Bird:

The Dike:  There is only one area to bird at this site - the dike overlooking the wetland.  If the area is not flooded, this site will most likely not be worth the trip.  If the gate on Grant Street is open, drive the dike from there.  If not, there is a small parking area on Chase Street.  Park here and walk the dike.
