This small woodland provides some of the only habitat on this section of Lake Michigan for migrant woodland birds to rest.
Specialty Species:
Waterfowl: Scan the lake for a chance at many species of waterfowl.
Vireos: Walk the trail through the woodland for a chance to see six different species of vireos during spring and fall migrations.
Thrushes: Hike the trail for a chance to see Veery and Gray-cheeked Thrushes among the more common Swainson’s and Hermit Thrushes.
Warblers: During spring and fall migration, walk the trail for a chance at many species of warblers.

Directions:
From the West: Travel east on I-90/I-94. Get off of the interstate at the Indianapolis Blvd./US-12/US-20/US-41 exit. Turn left (south) onto Indianapolis Blvd./US-12/US-20/US-41. Turn right (south) onto Lake Shore Drive (there is a very large Horseshoe Casino sign at the corner). After crossing over the railroad tracks and coming down the ramp, take the first right. This is a complete U-turn. You will then go back under Lake Shore Drive and enter the parking lot for the Horseshoe Casino. There are 2 entrances to Migrant Trap. The first is located just as you enter the parking lot and the second is at the far end of the parking lot.
From the East: Take I-94 west towards Chicago, Illinois. Take Exit 5B to Cline Avenue/IN-912 North. Take Cline Avenue/IN-912 to US-41. Turn right (north) onto US-41. Take a left (west) onto Indianapolis Blvd. Turn left (south) onto Lake Shore Drive (there is a very large Horseshoe Casino sign at the corner.
