Mount Baldy

Mount Baldy is the tallest sand dune in Indiana. From this site you can scan the lake and look for migrant passerines in the surrounding woods.
Specialty Species:
Warblers: Look for warblers in the western part of the parking lot and the first section of the trail.
Waterfowl: Scan the Lake Michigan for waterfowl during the late fall and winter.

Parking Area: Bird this area for a chance to see a variety of passerines.
Trial to the Beach: Bird this wooded trail for a chance to see many passerines. At the end of the trail, scan the lake for gulls, terns, and waterfowl.
After parking, walk west through the parking lot and take the trail up the hill to Lake Michigan. Watch for thrushes on the trail. Once you reach the lake, scan for waterfowl and return to the parking lot on the same trail.

Directions:
From the West: Take I-94 east. Take the SR-49 exit and turn left (north). Go 4 miles to US-12 and turn right (west). After 8 miles turn left (north) into the Mount Baldy parking area.
From the East: Take US-12 east from Michigan City. Go 2 miles and turn right (north) into the Mount Baldy parking area.
