This small woodland property borders part of the north shores of Lake Monroe.

Specialty Species:

Waterfowl:  Scan for waterfowl in the spring and fall for a chance to see many species of waterfowl.

Bald Eagle:  This area of Lake Monroe can have a large concentration of Bald Eagles from the fall through the spring.  Look for them on the mudflats, in trees around the water, or while hunting.

Shorebirds:  During dry years, this area of Lake Monroe can contain amazing shorebird habitat in the late summer and fall.  Scan the mudflats from the shore with a scope for a chance to see some uncommon shorebird species.

Vireos:  Look for migrating vireos during the spring and fall.  This area is a good area to find Philadelphia Vireo in migration.

Warblers:  Large flocks of warblers move through the woods in the spring and fall.  To locate a flock listen for their chip notes and the Carolina Chickadee as the chickadee and the warblers often form feeding flocks together.

Where to Bird:

After entering the property, park on the right where there is a small gravel pull off.  Walk on the dirt road out to the lake and scan for waterfowl and shorebirds depending on the time of your visit.  Search the surrounding trees around the area for many spring and fall migrants.  After birding this spot, drive up the road to the boat ramp.  Scan this part of the lake for a similar mix of waterfowl and shorebirds as the last stop.  Remember to look for Bald Eagles in both places.
