While this park is better known for its fossil beds than for its birds, it is popular with local birders and can offer great birding opportunities.
Specialty Species:
Black-crowned Night-Heron: Large numbers of Black-crowned Night-Herons congregate at this site during the fall.
Shorebirds: During the spring and fall, shorebirds gather on the fossil beds. There are often large numbers of shorebirds present.
Waterfowl: In the late fall and winter, when many lakes in the area are frozen, the river can be a magnet for waterfowl looking for a place to feed and rest.

Directions:
From the North: Take I-65 south from Indianapolis. Take Exit 0 for Jeffersonville and merge onto W. Market Street. Turn left (south) after 0.1 miles onto Southern Indiana Drive and then turn right (west) after 0.1 miles onto W. Riverside Drive. The park is located on the left (south) after 1 mile.
From the South: Take I-65 north from Louisville, KY. After crossing into Indiana, take exit 0 toward Jeffersonville. Turn left (west) onto Court Avenue. Go 0.1 miles and turn left (south) on N. Shore Drive. After 0.1miles, turn left (south) on Southern Indiana Avenue. Go 0.1 miles and turn right (west) onto W. Market Street. Go 0.1 miles and turn right (west) onto W. Riverside Drive. The park is located on the left (south) after 1 mile.
Note that most of the is parking located behind the Interpretive Center.
