This state park is one of the best places in Indiana to find Mississippi Kites.

Specialty Species:

Mississippi Kite:  Scan the skies throughout the park to find Mississippi Kites during the breeding season.

Warblers:  This site hosts many warblers during migration and has some special nesting warblers.  Hooded, Kentucky, and Worm-eating Warblers all nest within the park.

Where to Bird:

All Parking Areas:  Mississippi Kites can be seen flying over any area of the park.  Be sure to always watch the sky.

Lake Lincoln:  Walk up on the dike and scan the area for Mississippi Kites.

Trail #6:  Hike this trail for the best opportunity to see warblers, including the nesting species.

Accessiblity:

Most areas are not accessible but you can find the kites from many of the parking areas.

Directions:

From the North:  From the intersection of I-64 and SR-231, take SR-231 South.  After 6.5 miles, turn left (east) onto SR-162.  Go 1.85 miles and turn right (south) into Lincoln State Park.

From the South:  From the intersection of US-60 and US-231 in Kentucky, take US-231 North.  After crossing into Indiana, go 15.25 miles and turn right (east) onto SR-162.  Go 1.85 miles and turn right (south) into Lincoln State Park.
