This site is one of the Hamilton County parks department properties and is located on the west side of Cincinnati.  This is a great spot during spring and fall migration.

Specialty Species:

Warblers:  Many species of warblers are seen in this park during spring and fall migration.  Check the Boat Launch Parking Area and Miami Fort Trail for a chance to see many species on a spring or fall migration morning.  This site also has great habitat for nesting warblers.  Check the Miami Fort Trail for Cerulean and Kentucky Warblers during the breeding season. For Yellow-breasted Chats and Common Yellowthroats hike the Blue Jacket Trail. For Yellow-breasted Chats and Common Yellowthroats hike the Blue Jacket Trail.

Vireos:  Vireos are common in the park during spring and fall migration.  Check the Boat Launch Parking Area and the Miami Fort Trail for a change to see up to six vireo species on a good morning with strong migration.

Where to Bird:

Boat Launch Parking Area:  Park in the boat launch parking lot and walk the perimeter.  The trees in this area typically provide food and shelter for many migrant passerines during spring and fall migration.

Miami Fort Trail:  Park in the parking lot at the end of the main road.  Walk the trail scanning the trees and listening for warblers and vireos.  During the summer, look for nesting Scarlet Tanagers, Cerulean Warblers, and Kentucky Warblers.

Blue Jacket Trail:  Park in the small parking lot for Blue Jacket Trail.  Many birds, especially vireos and warblers, can be found along the whole trail during spring migration (April – May).  Yellow-breasted Chats, Common Yellowthroats, Blue-winged Warblers, and White-eyed Vireos can be seen in any of the shrub areas under the power lines.  Farther down the trail, you can expect to find Cerulean Warblers in the more wooded areas.
